Whaea Gina (Mrs Gina Nicholson) is Kiwi's classroom teacher.
Whaea Delwyn also volunteers her time and spends three mornings a week in our class.
We have 22 Year 2 and 3 students in our class this term.
Our classroom is a positive environment where children are encouraged to develop a range of life skills as well as academic learning. During this challenging time, we have a strong focus on well-being, providing strategies for identifying, naming and managing emotions: circle time, exercise, breathing exercises and yoga.
Our class curriculum is varied: science, problem-solving, and technology experiences all take place regularly alongside art, enviro and cultural studies. The core subjects are linked to meaningful, real-life tasks. Our kura supports a strong connection with the local community and integrates Te Reo throughout our programme.
